I was finally able to get the bed pulled off. I barely had enough room to lift it off the frame. My engine hoist was as high as it would go and everything juuust cleared. The brake line was worse than I thought. I ended up replacing 8ft. I broke the main fuel line while removing the gas tank because Minnesota road salt. I have to repair that and then I can FINALLY get back on track with the Autotragic to Manuel conversion. I have been gathering parts the past week and almost have everything I think. Helper dogs for your time.

Ratchet straps for the win!
Those L shaped things are where the eyebolts attached through the bed. They are 1/2 inch hot roll steel and welded to the frame. They came off the previous work truck and have bolt holes but we couldn’t be bothered with that.
New brake line installed!
This is my new fun side project. GOD DAMN IT!
He hates all power tools including the Shop Vac. He tried really hard to kill the end.
They were trying to get a rock. A ROCK! They spent like 5 minutes trying to get it.

Yep, that looks about as rusty as my ’95 did when I had my bed off a couple years ago. Replaced the tank, pump, sending unit, fuel lines, brake line ...
Say, that reminds me- how much of your fuel line are you replacing? If you’re going up to the filter with it, this would be a great opportunity to switch to a filter that uses quick-connects instead of the old threaded style.

Just that bit off of the sending unit. The rest of it is fine-ish. I recently replaced the fuel filter but I will remember that.
